Nicole Ivery, Esq.

Founder and Owner

“The thing that you do, do it well.” This belief, this spirit, this essence embodies the foundation of Seventeen17 Consultants, LLC. An entrepreneurial heritage combined with a desire to do things well, became the wake-up call that created this enterprise. Here are some of the things Nicole has done well:

  • Developed and published the inaugural SCDE Course Code Database, standardizing nomenclature and coding for thousands of courses, centralizing descriptions, academic weightings and units, graduation credits, teacher certifications, and prerequisites into a single, standardized resource for the first time in SC Department of Education’s history

  • Designed and executed a multi-tiered statewide training strategy, equipping hundreds of South Carolina educators and administrators with the technical skills required to navigate SC-Satchel platform

  • Codified a new statewide system for Special Education courses by synthesizing feedback from advocacy groups, school administration, district directors, and SC Department of Education leadership to create a balanced and objective coding framework

  • Served as the subject-matter expert for school districts, delivering customized workshops and technical assistance to improve the accuracy of student information system (SIS) data

  • South Carolina’s foremost dual enrollment authority and former liaison for the SC Department of Education with institutions of higher education, school districts, and the community

With a background spanning business operations, event production, creative strategy, and cross-functional coordination, Leslie brings a rare blend of operational precision and creative intelligence to Seventeen 17’s executive operations.

Known for building structure within fast-moving environments, her experience includes producing large-scale events and strategic initiatives, overseeing complex calendars and stakeholder communications, managing administrative operations within education and creative sectors, and serving in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings.

With a strong eye for design, brand experience, and organizational culture, she approaches operations not just as logistics, but as a tool for shaping thoughtful, high-performing environments.

Dr. Eleanor Glover Gladney

Associate Consultant

Dr. Eleanor Glover Gladney is a distinguished educator and leader whose career reflected an unwavering commitment to student success, workforce development, and educational excellence. A native of South Carolina, Dr. Glover Gladney holds advanced degrees in Home Economics Education, Individual and Family Development Education, Education Administration, and Curriculum and Instruction—credentials that underscore her deep expertise across multiple domains of learning and leadership.

Her professional journey spans decades of transformative service, beginning as a home economics teacher and evolving into roles of increasing responsibility and impact. As Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program Team Lead, she championed initiatives that bridged academic learning with real-world application, preparing students for lifelong success.

Her career is marked by a rare blend of compassion, strategic vision, and dedication to opportunities for all students. Dr. Glover Gladney’s work has empowered countless teachers, supported students, and strengthened the fabric of CTE, specifically Human Services/FCS in South Carolina and beyond.

Her guiding mantra is: “Can’t quit, will never surrender, because failure is not an option.”

Karen Byrum

Associate Consultant

With more than 40 years of experience in public education, Karen has dedicated her career to improving educational opportunities and outcomes for students. Her professional journey has spanned many levels of educational support, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing schools, districts, educators, and students.

Karen began her career in the classroom as an elementary teacher, where she developed a deep appreciation for the transformative impact that quality education can have on a child's future. She remained committed to educational equity and excellence by working in underserved communities, including some of the poorest counties in the southeastern United States, helping to implement effective programs and improve student outcomes.

From there, she expanded her influence to the state level that included serving as a Title I Coordinator, where she worked to ensure that schools serving economically disadvantaged populations received the resources, support, and guidance necessary to help every student succeed. Later, through her work with the SCDE’s State Accountability Office, she guided schools through accreditation and strategic plan processes, which earned her a reputation as a trusted advisor in educational improvement and accountability.
